🚨 Hey, friend! As a new subscriber, please take a quick second and reply to this email. You can write absolutely anything—even a short "I got it" or let me know how you discovered this newsletter! Ultimately, I just want to make sure you received this first entry.

Welcome to Cristian's Commonplace! 🤘

Can you help me? See, I have a problem. I'm a writer who rarely writes (and when I do, shares my writing) outside of work. So, after years of procrastination, the time came for me to come up with a solution. Either start writing or remove "writer" from all my bios and leave the dream to gather dust on the shelf.

Cristian's Commonplace is my attempt at a solution. The idea's simple: I need to write more, and what can hold me more accountable than a newsletter that I send to you? This newsletter isn't a silver bullet for my problem—nothing ever is. But it's a step in the right direction. And I'm glad you're joining me for the journey.

This newsletter, while helping me write more and share what I'm working on, will hopefully become a destination for you to get a snapshot of what's happening in our culture through a lens of creativity, entertainment, and storytelling.

Let's face it: There's so much noise.

My goal is to help sift through some of it for you through personal essays and articles, along with updates on my own storytelling trajectory. Because, as you may know, I read, listen to, and watch a lot of media and art. That's why I thought a digital "commonplace" would be a perfect framework for a newsletter.

What is a commonplace book?

A commonplace book is a central resource or depository for ideas, quotes, anecdotes, observations and information you come across during your life and didactic pursuits.
—Ryan Holiday
